Promoting Inclusive Education (PIE)

The Promoting Inclusive Education (PIE) program is a focused initiative aimed at enhancing the quality and inclusivity of education in the Parbat district, Nepal. It operates across 12 Village Development Committees (VDCs) and 40 schools, targeting marginalized groups such as children with disabilities and Dalit communities. Below are its key aspects:

    The program aims to create inclusive, child-friendly educational environments by providing training, resources, and support to students, teachers, and community members.

  • Key Objectives:

    • Enhance the quality of education, particularly for marginalized groups.
    • Strengthen the Education Management Information System (EMIS) for better data handling.
    • Promote school safety and inclusivity through training on disaster risk reduction and behavior change communication.
  • Notable Activities:

    • Establish learning corners, libraries, and child-friendly seating arrangements in classrooms.
    • Train School Management Committee (SMC) and Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) members on School Improvement Plans (SIPs) aligned with safety and inclusivity guidelines.
    • Distribute winter clothing to children with disabilities and support the construction of a blind hostel for visually impaired students.
  • Significant Outcomes:

    • Improved access to quality education for children from marginalized communities.
    • Increased community awareness and commitment to maintaining inclusivity in education.
    • Enhanced classroom environments, leading to better attendance and learning outcomes.
